Save Our Streets Ministries began in late 1993, in an effort to combat the escalating gang tension
that was so prevalent in the Bryan/College Station area at that time. Bryan/College Station experienced
fifty gang related shootings, two of which resulted in death, the year the Ministry was founded.
These numbers plummeted by a staggering 88 percent the following year, and have stayed around this
number ever since.
It was obvious that what God was doing through S.O.S. Ministries was working, and the numbers proved
it. Since that time, God has expanded the vision and influence of S.O.S, and what was started to primarily
reach gang members has grown into a ministry that reaches every area of our city. New doors continue to
open, providing new opportunities for the dedicated staff and volunteers of S.O.S. to continue sharing the
message of hope, love, and salvation with the hopeless.
Today, S.O.S. partners with approximately 300 volunteers and over 75 churches and organizations to
effectively take the love of Jesus Christ to the streets. We have regularly scheduled activities throughout
the week, as well as various outreaches year round.
