One chilly night in November of 1993 a distressed drug addict and dealer, J.J. Ramirez, stumbled into a tent revival set up on the streets in Bryan, Texas and there found his true salvation resulting in a call to begin a street ministry in the Bryan/College Station area. The ministry, Save Our Streets (S.O.S), is aimed at the youth left to the streets and gangs in the local area. This is a nonprofit/non-demominational organization dedicated to taking the love of Jesus Christ to the streets of Bryan/College Station. It is a ministry that was born out of prayer by God's people for the children of the community.

The ministry is being used to reach the many youth in crisis who suffer pain and trauma as a result of events beyond their control. Events such as abusive home situations, poverty, abandonment, gang activity, sexual exploitation, trapped by circumstances and caught in a downward spiral of violence, and being forced to live on danger-filled streets.

Mr. Ramirez says the situation in bigger than all of us, but not bigger than God. Through prayers and financial support, christian volunteers, churches, organizations, and businesses, we can share God's plan to provide the way for these crisis youth. Bill and Jan Coates, volunteers to the Ministry communicated that this is a Ministry worth your support. The need is immediate and the "SOS" is a sincere signal of distress to the Christian community.

The Ministry is sponsoring S.O.S Awareness Week September 21 through 28 in which you can participate in the "Walk A Mile In His Steps" on September 28, and break bread together at the Banquet on Thursday, September 26, 6:30 P.M. at the MSC room on the TAMU campus.
